About the Speakers

Maarten is an expert in deal structuring, managing Chinese networks, partner selection and has an intimate knowledge of the Chinese water technology sector.  Maarten has consulted foreign SMEs in the water sector on market entry strategy in China for many years and has worked for CHC’s investment arm since 2015.

BEN SCHWEGLER

Chief Scientist | Engie Lab China

Dr. Schwegler is responsible for Engie’s China Research portfolio.  He is also an Adjunct Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford, Ben’s research covers a wide variety of topics related to quality of life in urban systems.  He is a winner of the Henry R. Michel Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers.  Before joining Engie, Ben was Chief Scientist of Walt Disney Imagineering.

KEVIN CHEN

Kevin is an internet entrepreneur with broad experience in product development, operations, marketing, finance and general management. He is the Co-Founder and CEO of italki, a leading global platform for anyone to learn any language around the world.

YAN PING WANG

Founder and CEO | iDRC

Yan-Ping Wang is the Founder and CEO of iDRC (integrated Design Research Consulting), focusing on advanced application of optimization processes throughout the building lifecycle.  He is also a PhD Candidate at the Civil and Environmental Engineering department at Stanford University, with a focus on Multi-Disciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) applications in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry.  Yan-Ping has given invited talks at various academic and professional institutes on his research on Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and MDO, and has managed applications on real-world projects.
